Often a high odds bet in soccer, you can bet that a specific player will be sent off during a match.
As there are no players like Vinnie Jones anymore, you’ll see odds for this betting range from the likes of 25/1 all the way up to 200/1 depending on the player.
For this bet, you are betting that a specific player will be sent off during a match. It can be due to two yellow cards, or due to a straight red card. As long as they are sent off sometime during the match, you will win your bet.
Where To Bet Player To Be Sent Off
America: Unfortunately, Americans don’t seem to have the option to bet on a specific player to be sent off. The best option Americans have is at BetOnline. There, you have a couple of different options.
You can bet on whether there will be a red card during the match, or if there will not be. You can also bet that a player will have AT LEAST a card. It doesn’t matter if it is yellow or red – as long as they get shown a card, you win your bet.
Everywhere Else: Your best option is Bet365 Sportsbook. They have a variety of different bets related to red cards and players being penalized. You can bet on a specific player to be sent off, as well as if there will be a red card during a match, for a player to be booked, and many more player props.
What is the Player To be Sent Off Bet?
You are betting that a player will be sent off during a match.
This can be either via two yellow cards, or one red card.
Variations of this include betting whether or not there will be a red card during a match no matter what player it is or betting on whether a player will receive at least one card during a match.
You can also bet on whether a specific player will be booked at some sportsbooks.
Common Player To Be Sent Off Questions:
What if VAR overturns the red card?
We have seen situations like this before, such as in the Manchester City vs Newcastle game where Kieran Trippier initially received a red card, then VAR overturned it to a yellow. In this case, it was not a red card so you would not win the bet if you had bet on Trippier to be sent off.
What if the red card is overturned days after?
A club can appeal a red card, and so a few days after the match it may be downgraded or the suspension removed completely. This will not affect your bet. You will still win the bet if you bet that player to get a red card.

Player To Be Sent Off Betting Strategy:
There is no sound betting strategy for betting on a player to be sent off. Look at Alfredo Morelos at Glasgow Rangers for example. He was well known for some violent outbursts on the field at times, but he managed to go 100 games domestically without receiving a red card. If you blindly bet on him to receive a red card each game, it would be a losing bet.
The quantity of red cards has really gone down in recent times too. Look at the 2021/2022 EPL season for example. Only two players, Konsa and Jimenez, received multiple red cards.
Personally, I like to look at leagues where red cards are more common such as Scotland. Then look at why a team or player are getting red cards. Is a Hibs player getting frustrated against the Old Firm and lashing out? Then it might be worth betting them against Rangers or Celtic. Similarly, are players more likely to receive a red card when playing against Rangers or Celtic? Or are derby games such as Hibs vs Hearts leading to more red cards?
Look at that data to attempt to determine what will cause a red card more, then look at the players likely to earn that card. It’s a very risky bet, but with a very nice payout if it works out.
