The Masters is one of the greatest events in all of sports. It always comes at the perfect time of year, right in April as it is starting to get nice outside, and right when you’re ready for it. The Masters is always the start of season when I get really into golf and the event always pays off with a beautiful course, the best golfers in the world bringing their A-game, and some tremendous competition.
Betting on The Masters is a ritual for me at this point. There are so many betting options and I always have a lot of action going on this tournament. While it may pay the same as betting on other tournaments, winning on a bet at The Masters just hits different. For a golfer winning the Masters is the highlight of their career. For me, it’s the same and this point I’m basically the Jack Nicklaus of gambling.
I’ve been studying The Masters for years and I put a lot of research into this article. I’m going to share with you where to bet the Masters, how to bet it, what bets are offered, and my own strategies for betting.
Where To Bet The Masters:

What The Masters bets are there?
The Masters Futures: One thing about the Masters is that you can pretty much bet on this event year round. It’s that big in the world of golf. As soon as one Masters ends, you typically see odds go up for the following years Masters right after.
The Masters Outright: This is the same above, but the odds are set closer to the event. If you bet on the Masters in December, you are likely going to get better odds than the week of the event.
The Masters Each Way: A bet you place on a winner where you also get paid if they finish in the top 5.
The Masters Top 5: It doesn’t matter what place they finish in, as long as they finish within the area you bet. If you bet someone to finish in the Top 5, it pays the same if they finish first or fifth.
The Masters Top 10: Same as above, but for the top 10. First, fifth, and tenth all pay the same.
The Masters Top 20: Same as the two above, but for the top 20. First, fifth, tenth, and twentieth all have the same payout.
The Masters Make the Cut: This is basically a bet on the first two days as you are just betting for a golfer to make the cut and play on the weekend. Again, it doesn’t matter where they finish as long as they make the cut.
The Masters Round Leader: A bet on one round of the tournament. These are nice for a one-day only bet, but there is a high variance.
The Masters Group Betting: Betting on a golfer to be the best of a group of people. This can be anything from a group pairing to a country of origin/nationality bet such as Best European.
The Masters 2 Ball / 3 Ball: Two ball is a head to head match-up where you pick one golfer to beat another. Three ball is the same, but head-to-head-to-head.
The Masters Props: There are many props for The Masters, including The Masters Hole-In-One (a great bet), The Masters lowest score, The Masters winning margin, and more.

What is the best round in Masters history?
The best single round in the history of the Masters is a -9 under score of 63. This record has only been achieved twice in history. The first time was by Nick Price in 1986. The feat was matched ten years later in 1996 when Greg Norman had a first round of -9.
Interestingly enough, neither of these golfers went on to win the tournament with Norman’s loss being especially infamous as he lost a six stroke lead on the final day.
What is the worst round in Masters history?
The worst official round in the history of the Masters took place in 1956 when Charles Kunkle shot a 95. Or as I call it, a pretty good day on the golf course.
Who has won The Masters the most times??
The record for most wins at The Masters belongs Jack Nicklaus who took the Green Jacket six times in his career. He won his first tournament in 1963 and then won back-to-back Masters in 1965 and 1966. In addition to this record, Nicklaus also holds the record for the oldest winner of the Masters when in 1986 he won at the age of 46.
Tiger Woods is next on the list with five wins at The Masters. He won his first in 1997 with a huge -18 score, one of the best in history. Woods won back-to-back in 2001 and 2002. His most recent win came in 2019.

The Masters Betting Strategy:
One bet that I absolutely recommend for the Masters is betting YES on a hole-in-one. There have been a ton of holes-in-one at The Masters and it has only accelerated over the recent years. There were two in 2021, two in 2019, one in 2018, and three in 2016. This course has enough short Par 3s, especially hole sixteen, that this is as close to a lock as there is at The Masters.
As far as picking winners for the Masters, I like to look for golfers with a good short game and good putting. This is not the course for big boppers with the drivers. This is a skill based course so I am looking exclusively for golfers that excel with the irons.
