The simplest way to bet on golf is to pick the winner. It is also the most profitable way to bet on golf. With a golf tournament, even the biggest favorite of the tournament will usually have at least +500 odds or better. That can be pretty profitable when you bet on the right guy.
Of course, that’s easier said than done but one big win can pay for the next 20 or so tournament bets if you please. One big win can make a whole season. This is why I believe that betting on golf is the very best.
In this article, we are going to get a bit more in-depth on PGA Tournament winners; how to bet them, where to bet them, and our strategy for picking winners.
Where To Bet PGA Tournament Winners:
America: Bovada offer Tournament winner odds on the PGA, LPGA, European Tour, and much more. They also offer a good variety of golf props as well. A great place to bet on golf.
Canada: Sports Interaction All of the golf tournaments are covered at Sports Interaction. They are quick in getting their odds up and offer great payouts. They have great odds on tournaments as well as two-ball and three-ball bets.
Everywhere Else: One of the places online that I love to see golf odds is 888. They cover every tournament and also offer E/W betting. E/W betting or each way betting is where you place a bet on the winner, but you also can get paid as long as your golfer finishes in the top-5. The payout is less, but it can still be very profitable.
What is PGA Tournament Winner betting?
Just like it sounds, you are betting on the guy to win the tournament. If he doesn’t, you lose. If he does, you win big.
The nice thing about a golf tournament though is that you get absolutely fantastic odds. The Masters will have some of the best golfers in the world at +1000 meaning a $100 bet would pay $1000.
There are certain sportsbooks that offer each way (or E/W) bets that you can add to your bet. This means that the bet would still pay big for the win, but would also pay 1/4th of that amount for a top-five finish.
Common PGA Tournament Winners Questions:
How often do big underdogs win golf tournaments?
All the time! A great recent play was Patrick Reed winning the Masters after entering as a 40-1 underdog. Nobody doubted Reed’s talent, but few thought he could win as he had failed to put it all together in a major before. He did it and paid off big for those who bet on him.
Who has the most PGA Tour wins?
As of this writing, that record is currently tied between Tiger Woods and Sam Snead. Both of them have 82 wins in their career. We all know about Tiger Wood’s resume, but Snead posted wins in four different decades during his career.
Woods is likely to eventually break this record, but he is behind Jack Nicklaus in PGA Major wins. While Nicklaus has 73 wins, he also has 18 Major wins which is three more than Tiger Woods. This record will be considerably harder to break.

PGA Tournament Winners Betting Strategy:
Golf stats are key to finding tournament winners. A site like GolfStats.com is really worth the cost of subscription and has led me to victories in the past. I like to look at putting stats as well as course history. Good form on putting is absolutely key to a winning golfer as you never see someone missing easy birdies and winning a tournament.
My other favorite factor is recent form. If someone has been around the top-ten in the past few starts and heating up, they are a solid bet to breakthrough and finish highly.
The best strategy though? Bet multiple golfers! It’s silly to rely on just one golfer and hope that they get you there. You can have a favorite, but there are so many variables in golf that you could be out by the second day with your golfer. It’s good to make a list of the best bets and the golfers who you think will do well and bet them all.
Of course, don’t just bet so many that even if you get a winner that you won’t make any money. Pick one or two favorites and then fit them in with some bigger longshots that can really pay off for you. You may not win every tournament, but the ones you do can pay nicely. Plus, if you mix this with E/W bets you hold a significantly higher chance of cashing tickets.
