Where To Play Craps

Graeme

For a lot of people, craps is the most intimidating game in the casino. There are always people yelling and there are a lot of different betting options on the table. If you’ve never played before, it can be really intimidating and scary to try for the first time. I have to say that it is absolutely worth overcoming whatever fear you might have to play this game. It is one of the most fun experiences you can have in a live casino.

This article is here to help you a bit with that by explaining the rules and telling you how to play. I always say the best way to learn how to play live is by starting online. That’s how I learned to juggle and that’s how I learned to play craps.

I came up with a list of some of the best casinos online to play craps. I put together this list by weighting a lot of factors in the online casinos. From what I personally look for, to ease of payment and withdrawal, customer support, and, of course, bonuses.

Here are the best online casinos to play Craps at:

Where To Play Craps Online:

America: Roaring Casino is a great online casino where you can start playing craps right now. They have an outstanding deposit bonus where they will double your deposit up to $1000. If you only have $200, they will add another $200 right on top to bet with. What I like about this casino is the way they keep you coming back with free spins every month, specials, and bonuses.

I would also recommend Ignition Casino for playing craps.

Canada: The great thing about 888 Sports is that they offer a virtual version of craps as well as a live dealer version. This is one of the most secure casinos on the web as they have been around for a very long time. They have a great selection of other casino games as well.

United Kingdom: 888 Sports offers a 100% match bonus of up to £100 and a wide selection of games. They offer not only craps in an online game setting, but they also do Live Craps.

Everywhere Else: If you like extra money, look no further than Roaring Casino. They do a huge match bonus of 100% up to $1000. It is extremely easy to withdraw and deposit from here as well, and they have great customer service.

What Craps Games / Variations Are There?

Crapless Craps: Craps without losing? That sounds pretty nice, eh? Unfortunately, that’s not exactly what this is. The big difference here is that there is no don’t pass bet in this game and the rules for the pass bet are different as 11 is no longer a sure winner. This really shifts the odds quite a bit as the house edge is about five times higher.

High Point Craps: The big difference here is that a if 2 or 3 are rolled on the come out roll, they are ignored, and if you roll 11 or 12 you immediately win. The other big difference is that once you have to set a point, instead of hitting that number you have to roll a higher number to win.

New York Craps: This game is so different that it requires a completely different table. There are no “come” or “don’t come” bets in this game. Instead, players can bet directly on one of the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. If your number is rolled, you win.

Simplified Craps: This is a good game for beginners looking to try. This game just wants you to roll a specific number in order to win or lose. A 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 is a loss. A 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, or 12 is a win. Is that simplified enough for you?

Die Rich Craps: This is an easy, but fast version of the game. The game cuts things down where one number is an instant winner, one will crap out the pass line bets, and four numbers will establish a point. The rest is a loss. The instant winner is a 6, craps is a 1, and only 2, 3, 4, or 5 establish craps.

How to Play Craps Online:

  1. When you enter the craps game online, nothing will be happening. Place your bets and click “Roll” when you are ready.
  2. The dice are rolled and when they stop, winning bets are paid and losing bets are removed.
  3. You may then make another bet. You can change your betting amount here if you would like.
  4. Roll when you are ready.

Common Craps Questions:

How do you play craps?

A round of craps starts with a come-out roll. It is the first roll of the dice of the round and the person who throws the dice is called the shooter.

The shooter throws two dice on the craps table, or if playing online, by clicking the “roll” button on the screen.

Once the dice is rolled, there are then three possible outcomes.

  • Natural:
  • If the shooter rolls a 7 or a 11, you win and get to roll the dice again. This is the best outcome.

  • Craps:
  • The shooter rolls snake eyes (two 1s), 3, or 12. This is a loss, but the round is not over yet and you get to roll again.

  • Point:
  • The shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. The dealer then “marks your Point” (the number rolled) on the table. The shooter then rolls the dice again and hope to hit the same number as before. If the shooter hits their Point (the number rolled), you win.

What craps bets are there?

Pass Line: This is a bet on the shooter to win (or pass) by rolling a natural or by winning the point. This is a bet you can only make before the point has been established.

Don’t Pass Line: A bet against the shooter rolling a natural or hitting their mark. A lot of people in live casinos do not like it when you do this because you are betting against the person who is rolling. Craps is a social game in a live casino so it is a bit of a faux pas. This is a bet you can only make before the point has been established.

Come: This is a bet after the point has been a determined. You are betting on if a natural is rolled and against craps.

Don’t Come: This is similar to the Don’t Pass where you are betting against the shooter to hit their point. This is a bet after the point has been a determined.

Prop bets: You can also bet on specific numbers for big payouts. A bet on two 2s would pay 7-to-1, two 4s pays 9-to-1, and two 6s pays 30-to-1. The table will have all the odds for the multiple number combinations including hard ways.

Place Bets: After the point is established, you can bet on an individual numbers.

Field Bets: This is a bet on a variety of numbers, a bet on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 is a win. A 5, 6, 7, or 8 is a loss.

Big 6 and Big 8 Bets: A bet that a 6 or 8 will be rolled before a 7.

How many people run a craps table?

There are four dealers that work a craps table at a live casino.

The Stickman is the one with the stick. They are in charge of the proposition bets at the table and take losing bets off the table if they lose. They also tell the standing dealers when to pay players off for winning a proposition bet.

The Boxman is the only person seated at the craps table. They count the money and give the chips to standing dealers to give to the winners.

There are also two standing dealers. They handle the players and exchange chips for cash.

Can you play Street Craps online?

No. Street craps is named as it is played on the street – or basically not in a casino. It’s a much simpler version of craps but I have not seen anywhere where you can play it on the internet.

What happens if your first throw is a 7 or 11?

This is called a natural, and assuming you bet the “pass line” then you are a winner.

Craps Betting Strategy:

The key for winning long term at craps is not to get too crazy. Betting on individual numbers or proposition bets have a high payout, but that’s because it is simply not likely that they are going to come in.

If you are looking to simply make money, you should stick with betting on the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line. The house edge is low on these bets, 1.41% for the Pass Line and 1.36% for the Don’t Pass Line.

An easy way to bet, and have fun at the table, is to just bet the Pass Line and then do two Come bets. This way you are rooting for the shooter, always more fun, and minimizing your risks.
